The conference attempts to bring government leaders, politicians, researchers,
epidemiologists, academe, medical scientists, doctors, nurses, medical technologists,
community workers, domestic/migrant workers, social workers, sex workers, men who
have sex with men, persons living with HIV/AIDS their families, friends and relatives
to meet , discuss, emerging issues and pressing concerns on day to day HIV/AIDS work.
Indeed, a gathering where enriching experiential learning process is taking place for
the next two days.
For this year, there were 4 plenary sessions and two concurrent sessions
that took placed simutaneously at the Conference. This strikes the balance
between HIV/AIDS biomedical updates as well as psychosocial issues and
concerns. The convention highlights active participation of the Philippine
Medical Technologist Association (PAMET) and the Philippine Nurses
Association (PNA).
The culminating activity of the Conference was an interschool debate
between UP Manila and UST and they have debated on the topic ; "Should
condom be taught to Highschool students as part of Sex education".
Which in the final end, UP Manila (opposition side) over UST (affirmative side).
It was also this year that the AIDS Society of the Philippines
elected their new set of Board members headed by Dr Carlos Calica Jr.
This year's 6th PNCA is chaired by the Executive Director of RAF,
Dr Jose Narciso Melchor C Sescon.
