Remedios Supports LGBT Pride March 2002

Last Saturday June 29,2002 RAF joins along in celebration of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender PRIDE March 2002 held at the Remedios Circle Adriatico Manila. This year’s theme : " Halo-halo , Pare pareho, Pantay-pantay" . Close to 500 people from all walks of life – gay lesbian, transgender, transexual, straights- male and female, young and old join this festival. This is the third straight year that the Task Force Pride (TFP) spearheaded the said celebration.

TFP is composed of several LGBT organizations and numerous individuals who endeavor to bring together a diverse community for a common cause. Since the 90s, LGBT in the Philippines have been organizing various events to promote positive LGBT visibility and pride. Participating agencies and individuals for this year’s Pride March 2002 come in their array of floats, colorful and for some flamboyant and colorful costumes.

The members of the Task Force Pride are as follows : Akbayan, Amnesty International, Health Action Information Network (HAIN), Lesbian Advocates Phil (LEAP), The Library Foundation, Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) Manila, Order of St Aelred, Society of Trans Advocates of the Philippines, Society of United Lesbians, Women Supporting Women Centre, UP Babaylan , and Indigo Philippines.
