This project is follow through initiative on care and support
services for PHAs. The project commences in November 2000 highlighting the
establishment of the Filipino model of community support care center for People
with HIV/AIDS (PHAs). The center actualizes direct care and support service
delivery among PHAs, families, friends and caregivers. RAF will continue to
produce its publications on Care and support initiatives. Another Exhibit Booth
initiative will be undertaken in time for the 7th International
Conference on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific to be held in Melbourne, Australia
this October 2001.
Remedios has continuously supported PHIV/PWA individuals in
achieving quality life. RAF support services to PHA clients are as follows:
capability building- to become trainer/advocate of the field, "return to work"
opportunities, referral medical/obstetrical care and treatment, burial
assistances to PHIV/PWAs in coordination with the Kaagapay Support Group,
Funeraria Oro and DSWD. One main attraction of this project is exploring the
role of alternative therapy in direct care services delivery.
Learnings gained from these experiences are helpful as RAF
continue to mold what is care and support services for PHAs.
