On its fourth year, Clinica Remedios continued to provided holistic medical services not only
to its target clienteles who are freelance sex workers, but also to Tondo and
nearby communities as well. Total number of clients served for 2000 are as follow:

Clinica Remedios provide various direct services to include the
following : STD consultation and treatment, pregnancy tests, prenatal check-up,
Papsmear, Family Planning consultation, counseling, HIV Antibody Testing,
lectures/ seminars/ filmshowing/ focus group discussions/ IEC development on
HIV/AIDS/STDs and Reproductive Health, and various medical consultations and
check-up. Much of the project accomplishment lie on its community outreach
activities conducted at the project site level.
A HIV/AIDS Peer Educator Workshop was conducted last May 1999
attended by 20 participants from the sex industry. Both old and new peers were
encouraged to attend to establish camaraderie to further enhance teamwork among
themselves. Two peer educators helped in facilitating the workshop among its
peers. Another innovative initiative of the project is its microfinance
component through a cooperative building. Currently, there are 17 regular
members coming from the sex industry and 12 associate members. More learning
experience will be gained next year on this initiative.
