Remedios AIDS Foundation, Inc with funding assistance from the The Ford Foundation Philippines and UNAIDS will start its workshop series on "Expanded Counseling Training on HIV/AIDS Care and Support Services starting this second quarter of 2002.
The workshop has the overall goal of having improved access to quality care services among Filipino people living with HIV/AIDS through the conduct of capacity building initiatives on HIV/AIDS care and support services among key stakeholders.
Ford Foundation supports three (3) nationwide workshops conducted among health care providers (medical doctors, medical technologists, social workers) who are the frontliners in meeting those who are recently diagnosed HIV clients. About fifteen participants per batch will trained and these will be conducted in the following areas: Davao ( for Mindanao based) on April 8-12, Cebu ( for the Visayas based) May 20-24 and Baguio ( Luzon based) participants on June 10-14.
UNAIDS has provided support in the conduct of two workshop batches for non government organization (NGO) workers. About 20 participants will attend per batch. Both batches will be conducted in Antipolo Rizal , first batch will be on April 29- May 3, 2002 while the second batch will be on May 27 to May 31, 2002.
The workshop culminates with the development of action plans within their own respective communities and hope that this will be start in strengthening community based AIDS Coordinating team that will complement the HIV/AIDS Core Team trained by the National government. Thus, ensuring that efficient care and support services will eventually be readily available at the community level.
