FAMILIES OF PWAS ARE THE BEST ADVOCATES
FOR CARE AND SUPPORT

OBJECTIVE:

To provide a forum where affected families can meet together and share their experience and learn from each other.

DESCRIPTION:

Yearly, there are two major AIDS event celebrate worldwide. The most appropriate event where affected families can be brought together, see and talk with one another is the AIDS Candlelight Memorial. Those whose PWA family member had passed away, joins the candlelighting, while those whose PWA family member is still living, they bring many colorful candles and flowers because for them this is a celebration of life. They orphaned families share their experiences to those whose beloved is stillliving. These families talk as well with other people during the activity and give their testimonial of how it is to be affected by the AIDS epidemic. Through this forum, they as well impart education. This is also a good venue where the community is informed and educated that there are many people directly and indirectly affected by AIDS. And it is time to get involved and do something.

CONCLUSION:

Those who have been put into situation like having a family member with AIDS are the best and effective people who can impart information. They are the best advocates and they can make people move and learn from their testimonials.
